DESCRIPTION:Whilst June McDoom was listening to folk music in her bedroom\,
  the bass from her father’s DJ sets would rumble through the floor. She 
 grew up in a Jamaican family in South Florida\, where her father had homem
 ade speakers scattered around the house. June herself preferred to listen 
 to Simon & Garfunkel in her room. That music now comes together in her son
 gs\, where she blends folk with reggae rhythms and her soft vocals float b
 etween acoustic guitars and synths. Her grandfather played mento\, a Jamai
 can form of acoustic folk music\, and gave her her first guitar. On her up
 coming debut album ‘Follow The Light’\, you can hear how McDoom builds
  on that musical family history. For instance\, ‘Human Angel’ began as
  a folk track with a nylon-stringed guitar\, to which she later added a rh
