SUMMARY:Manu - De Herontdekking van de Hemel
LOCATION:Bimhuis\, Piet Heinkade 3\, 1019 BR Amsterdam
GEO:52.378127;4.913226
DESCRIPTION:Writer and performer Manu van Kersbergen explores what language
can and cannot do in a world that keeps fragmenting. Speaking from the pe
rspective of a father trying to explain the world to his children\, he wea
ves personal stories together with themes of racism\, conflict and identit
 y. The show was nominated for a Theo d’Or and the Annie M.G. Schmidtprij
s\, and was selected for both the Dutch and Flemish Theatre Jury’s offic
ial programmes. On stage\, a layered live set unfolds in which beats\, bas
slines and words sustain and challenge each other. Niels Broos on keys\, F
reek Mulder on bass and Aron Smit on drums provide the sonic foundation fo
r Manu’s poetic narrative: theatre and live band as one. After earlier p
erformances at North Sea Jazz\, the Nederlands Theater Festival and Boulev
ard\, he now brings the show to our stage for its final season. ‘Word ar
tist Manu delivers a magisterial piece. His poetic words are something we
can all use in times of crisis.’ (de Volkskrant)\n\nDetails en tickets:
