SUMMARY:The Titans of Soul
LOCATION:Boisdale of Canary Wharf\, Cabot Place\, Canary Wharf\, London E14
  4QT

DESCRIPTION:Table reservations from 6pm Live Music: 9pm “A world class ce
lebration of soul... not to be missed!” — Jools Holland\, Boisdale Pat
ron of Music This is soul music played by people who have lived inside it.
The Titans of Soul brings together a heavyweight line-up of musicians and
vocalists whose credits run through decades of funk\, disco\, R&B and cla
ssic soul. At the centre is drummer and musical director Billy Osborne\, k
nown for more than 33 years with Alexander O’Neal and working with artis
ts including Rod Stewart\, Evelyn “Champagne” King and Kashif. Around
him is a band with real pedigree: Ernie McKone on bass\, Nick Gilmore and
Eban Brown on keys\, and Angelo Starr on guitar and vocals. Starr\, the yo
unger brother of Edwin Starr\, has toured internationally and performed at
major venues including Madison Square Garden\, the Royal Albert Hall and
Wembley Arena. The vocal line-up brings its own firepower\, with Emil Ogu\
, Andy Mitchell Smith and Gee Morris taking on a set built from some of th
e greatest soul and dancefloor records ever written. Expect "What’s Goin
 g On"\, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine"\, "Car Wash"\, "Ain’t No Stop
ping Us Now"\, "Get Down on It" and "September". The appeal here is not ju
st the songs\, although the songs are enormous. It is the way they are pla
yed: tight rhythm section\, sharp keys\, full-bodied vocals and a band tha
t knows exactly where the pocket is. From Motown and Philly soul to funk\,
disco and 80s club classics\, this is a night built for people who want t
he real mechanics of soul music\, not a polite imitation. Visit our Hine B
ar and Heated Garden Terrace located on the 1st floor for pre-show or post
-show drinks!*Subject to availability BOISDALE OF CANARY WHARF Best Spirit
