DESCRIPTION:Waltham Forest Archives is excited to host Red Light Busking an
 d Frank Sweeney for an afternoon celebrating Black History Month. This yea
 r's theme being "honouring our communities\," we are thrilled to offer our
  Waltham Forest community a fantastic open day in our Archive\, exploring 
 black history in the borough: from everyday lives to stories of celebratio
 n and change\, we welcome you to come and discover the stories our Archive
  holds. This day will include talk and a performance from two of the amazi
 ng co-curators who have been working hard on our local museum redisplay. T
 he Archive will be open all afternoon for you to come and explore material
  pertaining to local black history.\n\nTable displays will look to the pas
 t of black people in the borough\, and how these histories shape the prese
 nt through memory and legacy. Frank Sweeney will discuss his career coordi
 nating Leyton Mas\, and Red Light Busking will speak to the present of you
 ng black people in Waltham Forest.\n\nBooking ahead is advised\, but drop-
 in will be available on the day.\n\nAbout Frank Sweeney\nFrank is a Senior
  Arts Manager with over 30 years' experience in the Voluntary and Communit
 y Sector\, using Carnival and Community Arts to inspire social change and 
 cultural engagement. As a co-curator with Vestry House Museum\, Frank has 
 been working on a new display to tell the story of Carnival in the borough
 . He is also currently consulting with Hackney Council as Hackney Carnival
  transitions from a council-led to a community-led partnership model. Furt
 her\, he supports artists\, directors\, and producers to shape and realise
  their creative visions.\n\nAbout David Anglin and Red Light Busking\nDavi
 d is the director of 4TY which stands for For The Youths. Red Light Buskin
 g was the bringing together his understanding of working with young people
  known to the criminal justice system and creative ideas for imagining the
  world. This has turned into Red Light Busking being a system for working 
 with young people known to the care and criminal justice systems\, where w
 orking with creatives and professionals\, they put together immersive musi
 c heavy experiences that get you thinking while jamming.\n\nAbout Waltham 
 Forest Archives and Local Studies Library\nWe hold a wide range of manuscr
 ipts\, printed and pictorial collections which can be used to research the
  development of our borough and its communities\, the history of your hous
 e or street\, or your family history in Waltham Forest. These collections 
 are a free to use resource\, available to everyone by prior appointment.\n
