SUMMARY:Tree Walk with Greg Packman
LOCATION:Walthamstow Wetlands\, N17 9NH
DESCRIPTION:While oaks often get the glory for being one of the most ecologically important trees\, there is another contender for the crown: willows!\n\nThese wetland wonders provide nectar for bees\, food for caterpillars\, and nesting sites for birds. They’re a crucial driver of biodiversity across the UK.\n\nGreg will talk about the ecological importance of willows\, as well as other tree species\, on this two-hour walk around Walthamstow Wetlands.\n\nImportant information\n\nThe walk will be fully outdoors\, so dress for the weather! There may be some gentle inclines so strong stout footwear is recommended.\n\nThis event is aimed at adults aged 18+\, but can be inclusive for young people aged 11 and above\, who must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nFurther information will be sent out prior to the event.\n\nAbout your Walk Leader\n\nGreg is an award-winning arboriculturist and currently serves as the Treescape Curator at the Royal Parks. His deep knowledge and enthusiasm for these incredible organisms is evident on each of his walks.\n\nAbout Walthamstow Wetlands\n\nThis London Wildlife Trust reserve is one of the largest urban wetlands in Europe. It supports a huge variety of wildlife and is the perfect backdrop for learning more about trees\, their habitats\, and their ecology.\n\nAll proceeds from this event enable our mission of nature recovery for a thriving city.
