DESCRIPTION:An open and inclusive workshop for South Asian women to connect and learn about the experiences of women in Kashmir Led by two academics whose work focuses on gender dynamics in occupied Kashmir\, we will use personal ethnographic accounts and photojournalism to learn about and reflect on the history and present realities of life in Kashmir. Beginning with a collective discussion space\, we’ll unpick the common narratives held in the room and introduce counternarratives and historical context to establish a shared understanding. Then\, you’ll divide into smaller groups to read and reflect on the personal ethnographic accounts and photos that highlight the lived experiences of women in occupied Kashmir. We’ll then use a mixture of collage and free writing to collate our learnings and reflections. This event is designed to be accessible to all\, regardless of prior knowledge.
