SUMMARY:Wildflower Printing Workshop
LOCATION:Walthamstow Wetlands\, N17 9NH
DESCRIPTION:About the event\n\nJoin us for an after-hours event at the reserve\, to learn about botanical printing in this tataki zomé workshop and create artwork that you can take home with you!\n\nTataki zomé\, also known as ‘flower pounding’ or ‘plant bashing’\, involves using a hammer or mallet to transfer natural dyes from leaves and flowers onto paper or fabric. This technique originated in Japan with tataki meaning 'hammering' in Japanese\, and zomé meaning 'dye'.\n\nWhat to expect\n\n1 hour walk around the reserve to identify different wildflowers in bloom\n\nuse some of the wildflowers you have identified to create botanical prints on watercolour paper. You can create a greeting card\, bookmark or even a print to frame in your home!\n\nThe walk will be fully outdoors so dress for the weather and there may be some gentle inclines so strong stout footwear is recommended.\n\nThis event is aimed at adults aged 18+\, but can be inclusive for young people aged 11 and above\, who must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nFurther information will be sent out prior to the event.\n\nAll proceeds from this event enable our mission of nature recovery for a thriving city.\n\nThis is not a foraging event and the flowers used to create your prints will be sustainably sourced for the event.
