Worth saying up front: despite the "Brent" in the name, this is not in the London Borough of Brent. The South Brent Club (formally the South Brent Conservative Club) sits on Stockbridge Lane in the Devon village of South Brent, on the southern edge of Dartmoor. It is a traditional members' club built around pub games, and darts is one of the regulars. You get three boards, alongside a snooker table, pool, table tennis and a skittle alley, so there is plenty to do across an evening. Signed-in guests are welcome, which makes it easy to visit with a member. It runs an external darts league plus internal snooker and skittles leagues, so the competitive side is well looked after. Doors open from 5pm on weekdays and from noon on Sundays.

The darts setup

Three dart boards are in regular use, which is generous for a village club and means you rarely wait long for a throw. The club fields teams in an external darts league, so on match nights you will find proper competition rather than just casual play. Darts shares the floor with a full snooker table, a pool table, table tennis and a skittle alley, so a quiet board is usually free even when other games are busy. If you want to get serious, the league route is open to members; if you just fancy a few legs with mates, the boards are there for that too. It is a games-first club, and darts is firmly part of the mix.

Good to know

This is a members' club, so the easiest way in as a visitor is to come along as a signed-in guest of a member. There is no charge to play the boards once you are inside, and the club pours real ale at the bar. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 5pm to 11:30pm, and Sunday from noon to 11:30pm, so it is an evenings-and-weekends sort of place. Beyond darts you will find snooker, pool, table tennis and skittles, plus sports TV and the occasional bit of live music. It is family friendly, dog friendly, has disabled access, and there is parking nearby.

Where it actually is

South Brent is a Devon village near the southern edge of Dartmoor, not anywhere in London, so do not turn up in northwest London expecting to find it. The club is tucked away on Stockbridge Lane, postcode TQ10 9AA, a short walk from the village centre. The nearest mainline station is Totnes, a few miles east on the line between Plymouth and Exeter, and you would need a taxi or lift for the last leg. By car it sits just off the A38 Devon Expressway, which makes it an easy stop if you are driving between Plymouth and Exeter. Parking is available close by.
