A body of knowledge: summer lectures
Royal College of Physicians Museum
The volvelle, a rotating disc embedded in medieval manuscripts that you could turn to reveal different information, predates modern printing. Astronomers used them, physicians used them, navigators used them. This event traces that history through interactive printmaking, with two speakers exploring how these mechanical pages worked and why they mattered.
You'll make one yourself. It's the kind of talk that works because you're not watching passively; you're making something. At the Royal College of Physicians, it's a fitting setting for a history rooted in how knowledge used to be shared and built.
