Design Camp for ages 11 to 14: Designing with Light and Shadow
Design Museum
Cyanotype is a printmaking technique. You work with plants from the museum's garden, sunlight, and photosensitive dye to create blue prints on paper or fabric. It's hands-on, visual, and you leave with something real you've made.
Learning happens by doing, not being talked at. For ages 11 to 14, that's exactly the right pitch. No art background needed. There's something satisfying about the chemistry working once you've set everything up. Using the Design Museum's garden means you see where the materials come from, watch the process work in context, and the whole thing clicks.
