Walthamstow Wetlands
Walthamstow Wetlands is a working nature reserve where you can bring young kids to hear stories about what's living there, then get stuck into a craft or a walk around the water to spot things moving. The storytelling is run by someone from the learning team, so it's pitched at the right level for under-6s. You just turn up at the outdoor classroom by the Engine House when it starts, no booking needed.
It's free, and donations go towards the trust's conservation work. Your kids need you with them throughout, but this is the kind of morning where you can actually relax while they're entertained by water and nature.
