Your kids spend a couple of hours making pirate things: a hat, a treasure chest, a kaleidoscope, a treasure map. It's hands-on work that keeps them focused on a project. They walk out with something they've actually built, not just something they sat through.
Worth it if your kids enjoy crafts and making things. The pirate theme is just scaffolding; what matters is the time spent creating something tangible with their hands. Five to elevens mostly settle in and work without much direction once they're into it.
