Vox Anima London: Intertwined, Rising In Hope
Intertwined: Rising in Hope promises a stirring evening of choral brilliance celebrating renewal and resilience.
The performance features the European premiere of We Are Phoenix by composer-in-residence Timothy C. Takach. The Earth has shown itself to be a powerful model of how to overcome obstacles through continual rebirth and evolution. Through poetry from multiple authors, We Are Phoenix illuminates the analogy between humans and our planet: we both suffer loss and devastation and yet rise again and again, becoming stronger each time.
Alex Berko's Sacred Place receives its UK premiere this evening. Sacred Place is an ecological service that connects the old with the new, the sacred with the secular, and the individual with their community. The outline of the work is a Jewish service. However, rather than Jewish prayers, the text is made up of various writers and thinkers who speak of the environment as a place of safety, comfort, and beauty. Approximately 2 hours including interval.
