Wearing Our Stories: Stitching Identity Through Football at Whitechapel Gallery
Wearing Our Stories: Stitching Identity Through Football at Whitechapel Gallery
Whitechapel's always been the neighborhood where migration stories and community run deep. This workshop threads that into something physical: you hand-stitch your own story onto a football shirt. Artist Nicole Chui guides you through it, exploring what home means when your team loyalty and your roots don't quite line up, what belonging feels like on and off the pitch.
The work is tactile and fast. You embroider, you talk with the room, you leave with something wearable that carries your story. No experience needed. Participatory, not a lecture.
Right for anyone with a real connection to football or a personal history of movement and identity.
