Zog at Cadogan Hall is the kind of theatrical night that actually works for grown-ups and children alike. It's based on the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book you probably know, translated into a live show with puppets and songs that land with both age groups.
The story's straightforward: Zog's a clumsy dragon struggling through flying school, crashing and burning his way through lessons until a girl starts helping him out. There's real charm in watching a character actually develop rather than just flail around for an hour.
What holds it together is puppetry. Little Angel Theatre made genuinely beautiful puppets, and Joe Stilgoe's songs give the thing actual musicality rather than noise. Running through August, it's the kind of show that fills a proper theatre because it doesn't talk down to either children or the adults sitting next to them.
