Editorial policy
OnlyHere lists things to do in London. This page sets out where those listings come from, what we leave out, where AI is used to write text and how that text is checked, and how to get something corrected.
Sourcing
Events are collected automatically from the public what’s-on pages of London venues and organisers, including pubs, music venues, theatres, galleries, museums, markets and council event calendars. Where a venue does not publish a usable calendar, a larger listings site may be used instead. The facts a plan depends on (the event’s title, date, time, venue, price and ticket link) are taken from that source and not rewritten, and listings link through to the venue or organiser for tickets and details.
Sources are re-checked on a schedule learned from how often each one changes, at least once every 30 days and daily for busy venues. A listing is only as current as our last check, so we always point you to the venue’s own page to confirm before you go.
What we list, and what we leave out
- Only events in London that you can attend in person. Online-only and livestreamed events are left out.
- Only events with a real date. Something with no date we can read is not listed as an event.
- An event is shown as free only when its source says so. A missing price is shown as missing, never guessed.
- Categories (live music, comedy, quiz and so on) are assigned by keyword rules on the source’s own title and description, not by hand.
- Pages that would list too few real events are kept out of search engines rather than padded out.
Where AI is used
AI language models write some of the supporting text on the site. We use Anthropic’s Claude and, for some pages, Meta’s Llama 3.1 running on Cloudflare Workers AI. They write:
- the short summary shown on many event listings, from that listing’s own title, venue, date and description;
- the introductions on venue pages and on some area pages, from facts we hold about the venue or area;
- some of the themed guides, each of which is tied to a real filter of live listings.
AI is not used to decide an event’s date, time, price or venue, and it is not used to invent events. A listing either exists on its source or it is not on OnlyHere.
How AI text is checked
The models are given only the facts from the source and are instructed not to add dates, prices, line-ups, opening hours or history that are not in them, and to return nothing when the facts are too thin to say something specific. What comes back then passes automated checks in code before it is published: formatting and length rules, removal of boilerplate refusals, and, for guides, a check that the guide’s filter uses real categories and that the whole site still builds. Most AI-written text is published after these automated checks without a person reading each piece first. That is why corrections matter to us, and why the facts you rely on always come straight from the source.
Corrections
If something on OnlyHere is wrong, whether a date, a price, a venue, a cancelled event or a sentence in a summary, tell us through the contact page. Include the link to the page and, if you can, a link to the venue’s own listing.
We check the report against the venue’s or organiser’s own listing. If our copy is wrong we correct it; if the event has been cancelled, or the listing cannot be verified at its source, we remove it. Venues and organisers can ask for their listings to be corrected or removed at any time.
