229 London: Pub in Fitzrovia

229 London is listed as an art venue in W1W, and its programming suggests a room that likes to mix things up. The bill moves between bands, singers, and solo musicians working in very different traditions, often sitting side by side. You might hear a pianist one night and a rock or pop act the next, with no single scene owning the space. This is a good place to go if you want to hear something you would not have picked yourself. The audience tends to be curious rather than loyal to one genre. Go in with an open ear and you will probably leave with a new name to look up.
