The 606 Club is a music room in SW10, and music is the point. The bills tend to be small groups: trios, quintets, and bands built around one player. The programming leans jazz, with room for musicians who come at the form from the side. The crowd is mostly people who came to listen. They know when to hold back and when to clap. Regulars tend to come back for players they already know. If you want to hear musicians up close, without a big production in the way, this is the kind of place to know. Pick a night by the line-up. A small band on an ordinary evening often tells you more about a room than the headline does.
