Brady is a community arts centre in E1, and it programmes like one. You will find talks, theatre matinees and work that looks back at how people tell their own stories. The evenings tend to end with questions from the floor, and the conversation often carries on afterwards. The audience is curious and engaged. Many come for a subject they already care about: a community history, a language, a stage tradition that rarely gets room elsewhere. Others come because someone they know is on stage. The strength here is in the programme's attention to voices that do not get long runs in the West End. The talks usually ask where something came from and why it still matters.
