Canal Cafe Theatre is an arts venue in W2 that gives its stage to topical writing. Satire, sketch and revue are the forms you are most likely to find here. The material tends to be built around the news and the people who shape it, so the jokes land best if you have been reading the headlines. It suits an audience that likes its comedy with a point of view. Come for writing that is sharp and quick rather than for spectacle. The room rewards attention. Go in curious, listen closely to the lines, and expect to leave still thinking about them.
