Kingston University

Kingston upon Thames

Kingston University's art programme is where you go to see work that is still being made. Expect student-led shows, degree-season exhibitions and large group expos, the kind where a whole building opens up and you can wander room to room. The work is often unpolished in the best way. Painting, sculpture, design and mixed media sit side by side, and the people in the room tend to be the makers, their friends, and local visitors who want to see where the next wave is heading. Go with time. Small rooms reward slow looking. Read the wall text, talk to the artists if they are standing there, and notice which pieces you keep returning to. Group shows give you the broadest view of a cohort.
