No.9 Cork Street

Mayfair

No.9 Cork Street is an art venue, and the programme reads like one. Contemporary work tends to lead here. Painting, photography, sculpture and text-based pieces often sit close together, and many of the artists work across more than one country and language. Good shows here usually hang on one clear idea rather than a loose mix of pieces. Some ask you to stand close and look again. Others are about memory, loss and the slow way objects carry meaning. The crowd is mostly people who already look at art: artists, students and regulars who like to see new work early. If you are new to galleries, come with curiosity and no plan.
