Tropics 68 is a room that runs on sound and movement more than on talk. Live music sits at the centre of what it hosts. Jazz jam sessions, live bands, and Cuban salsa classes that turn into social dancing once the lesson ends. It also keeps a more unusual side. Chess sessions share the calendar with the music, so a board in one corner can sit close to a room of dancers working through a rhythm. The crowd tends to be people who come to join in. Musicians sit in at jam nights. Newcomers get taught before they are expected on the floor. The place rewards curiosity more than a planned night out. If you like a venue with a clear identity, this one has it.
