Westminster Pier in SW1A is built around the boat. Most of what happens here is a cruise: dinner on board, a themed music night, a sightseeing trip, or a long lunch with a festive edge. The programme leans towards celebrations. Dinner cruises suit birthdays, anniversaries and small work do's. Themed nights draw people who want a bit of music with their meal, and the crowd tends to be groups who came to be together, not to see one thing. Seasonal lunches and sightseeing trips appeal to visitors and to locals who like seeing the city from a different angle. Check the tone of each sailing before you pick one, and dress for a boat rather than a dance floor.
