About
Medieval women had few choices, or so the story goes. Anchoresses chose a cell attached to a church, sealed in for life, and gained autonomy, intellectual purpose and spiritual authority. Kristina Bauman's talk on 23 November looks at why that life was a path to influence, not silence. It suits anyone curious about women's history, and £19 buys a full evening on the subject.
