Brixton Village Market is a covered market arcade in the heart of Brixton, south London, set within the 1937-built Granville Arcade and its neighbouring Market Row. Tucked beneath glazed pitched roofs that run between Coldharbour Lane, Atlantic Road and Electric Avenue, its narrow lanes are packed with more than 100 independent traders. Once a hub of London's Caribbean community, the arcade has grown into one of the city's most diverse food and shopping destinations, where global restaurants, cafes and cocktail bars sit alongside long-standing grocers, fishmongers and boutiques. Entry is free and the atmosphere is buzzing day and night.

Opening times

Brixton Village and Market Row are open every day, from 8am to 11.30pm Tuesday to Sunday. On Mondays the arcade keeps shorter hours, typically closing around 6pm, and some individual businesses may stay shut. Individual restaurants, bars and shops set their own hours, so it is worth checking ahead if you are visiting for a particular trader.

What's on the stalls

The arcade is home to more than 100 independent traders representing over 50 nationalities. You will find authentic global cuisine, experimental cocktail bars and cafes alongside traditional fishmongers, butchers and greengrocers. There are also fashion boutiques, record shops, bookstores and lifestyle and homeware sellers woven through the covered avenues, making it as much a place to eat and drink as to shop.

Around the market / getting there

Brixton Village sits in the centre of Brixton with entrances off Coldharbour Lane, Atlantic Road and Electric Avenue, right by the railway viaduct. It is a couple of minutes' walk from Brixton Underground station on the Victoria line and Brixton mainline rail, and is served by numerous bus routes. The adjoining Market Row and the open-air Brixton street market are all within a few steps.
