Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is the Philadelphia-based project of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alec Ounsworth. Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 2005, Ounsworth has released a series of critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively. The album, which the band initially distributed themselves via the internet, became an unexpected success and quickly caught the attention of figures including David Bowie and David Byrne. In the years that followed, Ounsworth refined and broadened his sound, drawing on influences ranging from indie rock and post-punk to more experimental songwriting. Alongside Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, he has worked on various other projects, including Flashy Python, with whom he released the album ‘Skin and Bones’ in 2009. In 2021, his most recent studio album, ‘New Fragility’, was released, followed by the EP ‘Room at the Top’ in 2022. In 2025, Ounsworth celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the debut album with an extensive tour and a special reissue.
