Katherine Li

Katherine Li sings about unrequited love with a directness that suits her indie pop style perfectly. The Chinese-Canadian singer-songwriter from Toronto often lets the piano open the track, after which drums and backing vocals add richness to the choruses. Her voice remains clearly at the forefront, ensuring you catch every word of her musings on love. On the EP ‘love, k.’, she follows a crush from those first butterflies to the realisation that it’s probably not going to work out again. She writes down what she’d like to say to the other person, whilst already running through every possible response in her mind. Through TikTok, she found an audience of equally hopeless romantics, who now sing along to her songs at her gigs too.
