Autograph

Shoreditch

Autograph is an art venue in EC2A, and its programming leans toward work about who gets seen and whose stories get told. The pieces tend to be personal and political at once. Artists often use their own bodies, families and histories as the material. Expect work that asks for time. It rewards a slow look more than a quick pass, so it suits people who like art that stays with them after they leave. The crowd tends to be artists, students and regular gallery-goers who want to be challenged more than soothed. If you are new here, read the artist's own framing first. The context usually changes how the work lands. Go in curious, give it some time, and let the room do some of the talking.
