The British Museum at WC1B 3DG is where art tends to arrive with an argument attached. The programming cares about exactness, the careful handling of an object or idea, and it doesn't mind being a little polemical about why it matters. The good rooms ask you to slow down. You look closely, then find yourself disagreeing with the label, the framing, or the tone of the case. That friction is the point. The crowd is mixed and quietly serious. Students with notebooks, people who have come back to the same work three times, and visitors who wanted more than a pleasant afternoon. Go in with a question and you'll get more from it.
