Chats Palace is an arts venue in E9, and it programmes like one. Live sound runs through most of it. Folk sessions sit alongside contemporary music, world premieres, battles and slower, listening-led nights. That range is the point. You might come for a singer, a battle, or a room full of people trying something new. The crowd tends to be curious rather than dressed up for the night. They stay for the performance. If you want to see where a scene is heading, this is a good place to start. Many nights here are built around the performer, so look at who is on the bill before you decide. Go early enough to settle in, and stay late enough to talk to someone who was there last time.
