David Zwirner

Mayfair

David Zwirner is an art gallery, and it behaves like one. Come for the walls, the light and the chance to look properly. The programme leans towards solo shows. One artist, one body of work, given enough room to sit with it. Some visitors arrive knowing the name on the door. Others come because a show caught their eye and they want to see the work at scale. Expect a crowd that reads the wall text and stays a while. Gallery regulars, collectors, students and people who simply like looking at contemporary work. You don't need a background in art. You do need a bit of patience. The gallery is in W1S. Give each room time rather than rushing through. The work tends to reward it.
