Parliament Hill gives you London's clearest southward view. On fine days the city spreads out unobstructed: the Thames bends through it, domes and cranes and towers sit in actual geography. But people come here for more than the view. The Heath is open grassland where you fly kites, kick a ball, sit with a book, watch weather move across the city. Hampstead itself has a particular character, literary and leafy and somewhat self-contained, and Parliament Hill is its vantage point. Events here are seasonal, outdoor, community-rooted.
