Phonox: Pub in Lambeth, London

Phonox is a club in SW9, and it is built around DJs. Most of what happens here is club nights, with electronic music at the centre and sets that run long into the night. Residencies are the thing to pay attention to. A night that returns every few weeks gives the room a character of its own, and the DJs who hold a slot tend to know the crowd well. All-night sessions and closing parties suit people who want to stay until the lights come up. Go for the music first. The crowd is there for the sound, so expect a room that fills around the decks and stays focused on the set. Lineups often mix residents with visiting artists, so the bill tells you more about the night than anything else.
