St Alfege Church

St Alfege is a church first, and the programme reflects that. You will find live music here, mostly classical and chamber, in a space where the sound and the setting do much of the work. Guided tours are the other half. They take you through the church, its galleries and its crypt, so the building is part of what you come for, not just the backdrop. The crowd tends to be people who like a quiet room, a close listen and a slower evening. Expect a thoughtful audience rather than a loud one. Think about the kind of night you want before you pick. If you like to sit still and let a space do the work, this is a good place to start. If you want something loud or fast, look elsewhere.
