Victoria Miro is a contemporary art gallery in N1, and it runs the way serious galleries do. The rooms feel edited rather than crowded. The programme leans on thematic group shows that put artists in conversation with each other, alongside solo presentations that give one practice real space. The work moves between painting, sculpture and installation, and some of it has moving parts that reward a closer look at how it was made. The crowd tends to be people who already know what they like, along with those who want to learn how a practice holds together. Give it time. Read the wall text, then walk back to the piece that stopped you on the way in.
