Airport Bowl Harlington: Bowling in London
Airport Bowl is a big old-school ten-pin bowling centre on Bath Road just north of Heathrow, with 36 lanes across one floor. It bills itself as one of the oldest and largest bowling alleys in the country, and the scale shows. If you are after lane availability without much queuing, or a late session after work, this is a solid bet.
It suits groups, families and anyone near the airport killing time. The most useful thing to know is how late it runs: lanes are open past midnight every night and until 3am on Friday and Saturday. There is a Barcelos flame-grilled chicken restaurant, a fully licensed late bar, pool tables and an arcade on site, so you can make a full evening of it.
The bowling setup
Thirty-six ten-pin lanes give you a genuine chance of walking in and getting a lane, even on a busy weekend. You can pay by the game or by the hour. By the game, the first adult game is £5.50, dropping to £4.50 and then £2.50 for later games, with cheaper rates for juniors, students and OAPs. By the hour, a family hour is £24 and a night hour is £28. All prices include shoe hire, so there is no surprise add-on at the desk.
Good to know
It is open daily from 8am or 10am and runs late, until 1am most nights and 3am on Friday and Saturday. After 6pm on Friday and Saturday there is a small entry charge (£1, or 50p on Sunday), and the late bar and Adult Gaming Centre are over-18s. On site you also get Barcelos chicken, seven pool tables and an arcade. Book online through the bowling passport system or just call ahead on 020 8759 7246.
