Beckenham Social Club: Darts in London
A CIU members social club in Beckenham, established 1921, with a busy darts scene: five teams play in the West Wickham Phoenix Monday Night Darts League. Free league board, no booking, alongside pool, sports TV and live music.
The darts scene here
This is where you come for proper league darts, not a one-off booking. The club fields ladies' and gents' teams and is one of the busier venues in the West Wickham Phoenix Darts League, the long-running Monday night competition that traces back to 1946. Five sides call it home: Beckenham Social A, B and C, plus the Mavericks and Expats A, several of them in the Premier Division. Mondays are match nights, so expect a board in use and a crowd who take their checkouts seriously. There are darts competitions through the year alongside pool and crib, so the board sees plenty of regular play.
Good to know
Beckenham Social Club is a CIU-affiliated members club, founded in 1921 and refurbished in 2010, so the bar may only be open to members and their guests. Once you are in, the board is free to play. Hours run noon to 3pm and 6pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday, with longer all-day opening Friday to Sunday, so aim for an evening or a weekend if you want a game. There is a bar with snacks, a pool table, four screens showing Sky and TNT Sports, free Wi-Fi, a garden and a small car park. Live music lands on Saturday nights and there is bingo on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
