Bickley & Widmore is an old-school working men's club tucked just off the main drag in Bromley, and it's a proper darts pub rather than a flashy oche bar. You get pool, darts, sports on the TV and weekly bingo, all under one roof with a single bar pouring a regularly changing cask ale. The thing worth knowing up front: it's a members-only club, so the bar may only be open to members, and the easiest way in is to come along as the guest of someone who plays. If you want a relaxed game on a real club board with people who take their darts seriously, this is the spot. The current building went up in 2018, replacing the older 1969 premises, so the room inside is clean and spacious with plenty of seating.

The darts scene here

This is a league club through and through. Bickley & Widmore field two sides in the West Wickham Phoenix Darts League, listed as Bickley & Widmore A in the First Division and Bickley & Widmore B in the Premier Division. The league has run in the West Wickham area since 1946 and plays its fixtures on Monday nights, so that's when the board sees its most competitive action. Outside of match nights you'll find the board free to use, alongside a pool table. The standard is decent given two teams call the place home, which makes it a good spot to test your throw against regulars who know the game.

Good to know

It's a members-only club, so the bar may only be open to members; the simplest route in is as a guest of a member or on a club event night. There's a single bar with a changing cask ale, sports TV and live music, plus weekly bingo, so it works as a social club as well as a darts venue. It's family friendly and there's parking on site, with benches out front for warmer evenings. Opening is from 12:30pm most days, 11am on Sundays, running to 11pm midweek and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. No food is listed, so plan to eat before you arrive.

Getting there

The club sits at 2A Canons Road in Bromley, just inside the BR1 2SH postcode (the darts league lists the same address as 2 Canon Road, Bickley). It's in the Bickley and Widmore corner of the London Borough of Bromley, on the southeastern edge of Greater London. Bickley railway station is the closest stop and runs services into central London, with Bromley North and Bromley South also within reach for buses and rail. There's parking at the club itself, which helps if you're driving over for a Monday league night or a quiet game during the week.
