Bickley & Widmore is an old-school working men's social club tucked off the road on Canons Road, a short walk from Bickley and Bromley. The building was rebuilt in 2018 but the feel is properly traditional: one bar, plenty of seating, weekly bingo, a pool table and a dart board that gets real use. This is a members' club rather than an open pub, so you may need a member to sign you in, but it stays family friendly and unpretentious. For darts, the draw is the league pedigree. The club runs two teams in the West Wickham Phoenix Monday Night Darts League, one in the Premier Division and one in the First, so this is a board with regulars who can actually play. Come for a relaxed, cheap throw rather than booths and gadgets.

The darts setup

This is a classic club board, not a bookable arcade-style oche. You throw on the same dartboard the home teams use for league nights, so expect a proper steel-tip setup with a bare wall, a chalk or whiteboard scorer and no automatic scoring or screens. There is no per-game charge and no timed slot to keep an eye on; you play as long as the board is free and you have a drink in. With two competitive teams based here, the standard at the board can be high, so it is as good for a serious practice throw as it is for a casual frame between rounds of pool.

The darts scene here

Darts is a fixture, not a gimmick. Bickley & Widmore field two sides in the West Wickham Phoenix Monday Night Darts League: Bickley & Widmore B in the Premier Division and a second team (listed as Bic & Widmore A) in the First Division. That means Monday nights can be busy with matches, and the regulars know their averages. If you fancy joining a side, the club is the place to ask. Alongside the darts you get a pool table and weekly bingo, so it works as a proper local games club rather than a one-trick venue.

Good to know

It is a members-only club, so the simplest route in is to come with a member or ask at the bar about signing in. There is no charge to play darts and no booking, you just turn up when the board is free. The single bar pours a regularly changing cask ale plus the usual lagers and soft drinks, and prices are club-cheap rather than London-pub steep. Hours run from 12:30 most days, with later Friday and Saturday closes and a Sunday lunchtime start. Out front there is a car park with picnic benches for warmer days.
