Camden Darts Club lives upstairs at The Colonel Fawcett, an independent free house on Randolph Street, a couple of minutes from Camden Road and Camden Town stations. It is a pub darts setup rather than a slick chain venue, which is the appeal. There are three boards in total. The single interactive board with automatic scoring is the one you book ahead, while two standard boards run free and first come, first served. Booking is for groups of four to twelve, so it suits a night out with mates rather than solo practice. Sessions are cheap by London standards: £5 each for an hour or £7 each for 90 minutes on the interactive board. Behind the throwing there is a proper pub with 19 draught lines, a big gin list, cocktails and wine.

The darts setup

Three boards, two formats. The interactive board does the scoring for you and tracks your games on screen, which is the one to book if you want the leaderboard treatment. The other two are standard boards: chalk, your own maths, no screens. Those two are free and you grab them first come, first served, so on a quiet weekday afternoon you can just turn up and throw. Booking on the interactive board is per group, anywhere from four up to twelve people, and you can reserve more than one slot or board if your group is big, subject to what is free that night.

Good to know

Pricing is simple and reasonable: £5 per person for 60 minutes or £7 per person for 90 minutes on the interactive board, with a minimum group of four. You book individual slots through their system or email ahead for larger parties and private hire. The room itself is part of a working pub, so you are sorted for drinks: 19 draught lines, over 100 gins, cocktails, wine and a decent low and no alcohol range. There are covered, heated gardens too. The darts room runs Tuesday to Sunday and the pub is closed Mondays outside bank holidays.

Getting there

The Colonel Fawcett sits at 1 Randolph Street in Camden Town, postcode NW1 0SS, tucked off the main drag east of the lock. Camden Road Overground is the closest at roughly 200 metres, handy if you are coming in on the North London Line. Camden Town on the Northern line is about 400 metres away, a five minute walk, so you have both tube and Overground covered. It is a short hop from the markets and the canal, which makes it an easy add-on if you are already spending the day around Camden.
