The Moretown Belle is a big modern sports pub tucked into the Thomas More Square development in Wapping, a few minutes from St Katharine Docks and Tower Hill. It is a proper darts pub: five Winmau Blade boards, a spot on the City of London Darts Association circuit, and the kind of place where you can usually walk in and get a game. Throwing on the pub boards is free, and the darts area can also be hired if you want a corner to yourselves. Around the oches you get a full sports-bar setup, with a wall of UHD screens, three pool tables, Marston's cask ales on the bar, and a kitchen doing breakfast, burgers, pub classics and a Sunday roast. Good for a casual session with mates or a more serious league night.

The darts setup

There are five dartboards here, all the newer Winmau Blade type. Three sit in the original corner on the left as you come in, and two more were added on the right, over towards the toilets, so there is room to spread out when it gets busy. They are standard steel-tip oches rather than the automatic-scoring electronic kind you find at the big chains, so bring your own chalk-and-banter scoring. One thing worth knowing: the lighting near the boards can throw a bit of shadow, so pick your angle. The boards are listed as CoLDA approved, which tells you they are set to proper league spec.

The darts scene here

The Moretown Belle is a recognised City of London Darts Association (CoLDA) venue, so it runs as a genuine league pub rather than a board bolted onto a bar as an afterthought. That means regular match nights and a crowd who actually know how to throw, alongside plenty of casual players. Reviewers note you can nearly always get a game, which is the real test of a darts pub. If you want certainty, the darts area is hireable, handy for a team practice, a birthday, or a work group who want a corner locked down rather than queueing for an open board.

Good to know

It is a full sports pub, not just darts, with around 35 UHD screens for the football and the big fights, plus three pool tables if the oches are taken. The kitchen runs all day: breakfast from open, then burgers, pub classics and Belle favourites, with a traditional roast on Sundays. Three Marston's cask ales sit on the bar alongside the usual lagers, wines and spirits, and there is a terrace out front for warmer evenings. Doors open early (08:00 most days, 08:30 Sunday) and it stays open late, to midnight on Thursdays and Fridays.
