The Three Tuns (Aldgate): Darts in Aldgate
The Three Tuns is a traditional City pub on Jewry Street, a couple of minutes from Aldgate, and a solid pick if you want a few pints with a game of darts rather than a dedicated darts hall. It has been a pub on this spot for a long time, with a small bar at street level and more room upstairs, plus a roof garden that opens up in summer.
The board lives in the upstairs bar, away from the main downstairs crush, and it is a proper league board: the pub fields a team and sits on the City of London Darts Association and Capital Arrows central list. For a casual game it is free to play, walk in and ask at the bar. There is no booking system and no coin slot, so it works best as a steel-tip pub board for two of you or a small group taking turns.
One thing worth knowing: this is an edge-of-City boozer, so it fills up fast with the after-work crowd on weekday evenings. If you want a clear run on the oche, come earlier or aim for the quieter end of the week. Closest stations are Aldgate and Fenchurch Street, both a short walk away.
