Poetic Justice brings Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur together in a cult 90s road movie about an aspiring musician and a poet working through loss and romance. Director John Singleton trusted something genuinely tender between the two of them, the kind of performance chemistry that mainstream cinema usually gets wrong.
It's the kind of film outdoor cinema deserves. You're watching something that knows what it's trying to do, that doesn't need to shout or prove itself. The pacing is patient, the romance builds without sentimentality, and the road-movie format means nothing feels stuck. Worth going out for.
