Sun Ra Arkestra, the most-exciting jazz ensemble in the world, return to Union Chapel in June 2026. Following Sun Ra's 1993 passing, saxophonist John Gilmore and later Marshall Allen maintained the ensemble's legacy. Currently, Allen shares musical direction with veteran saxophonist Knoel Scott, who leads international tours since 2021 due to Allen's advanced age. The ensemble presents a powerful blend of classic Sun Ra compositions and arrangements alongside Allen's own works, all deeply rooted in Sun Ra's visionary legacy, maintaining the spiritual and disciplined practice Sun Ra established.
