Soho built London's queer nightlife name, and Old Compton Street still carries some of it. But most of the energy now sits east, in Dalston and Hackney, where promoters run one-off nights in rooms that change identity depending on the week.

Expect a mix: long-running clubs with a members feel, and newer nights built around a specific sound, drag, or crowd. Some lean pop and karaoke-adjacent, others push techno or ballroom. Worth deciding what kind of night you want before you pick a place.

Weekends carry most of the big-room energy, but weeknights often have the more interesting, smaller bookings. Doors and door policy vary night to night, so check specifics for the one you're going to rather than assuming.

Vauxhall was once the other main hub alongside Soho. Some of that legacy remains, though the map has spread wider across the city than it used to be.
