Hauser & Wirth

Mayfair

Hauser & Wirth is a contemporary art gallery, and it works like one. Expect focused shows that give a single artist room to breathe, often with pieces from different years so you can see how the work has moved. The programme leans towards photography, film and large bodies of work that reward a slow walk round. It is the kind of place you go for the looking rather than the occasion. You will see a mix of people: collectors, students, artists, and regulars who come back to see what has changed. It sits in W1S 2ET, so it suits a planned visit rather than a wander. Give yourself time. Read the wall text. Look twice at the things that seem quiet at first.
