Howl at the Moon leans towards nights you join in rather than just watch. Expect a mix. Traditional Irish music sessions, where the people in the room often matter as much as the musicians. Alternative pub quizzes, which step away from the standard format and reward the odd question nobody else knows. The crowd tends to be people who like a small, informal night out. Regulars often return for the same format. First-timers usually find themselves talking to a stranger by the end. If you like evenings that feel more like a good kitchen table than a big stage, this is worth a look. Check what is on, pick the format you like, and let the rest follow.
