The Stag's Head Hoxton

The Stag's Head Hoxton is a place to hear things for the first time. Much of what happens here is spoken and performed, with an edge of the unfinished. Open mic nights give newer acts a room to try new material. Comedy nights bring in performers who know how to work a crowd. Put the two together and you get a mix of nerve and polish. The audience tends to be curious rather than dressed up. Some come to watch a set go wrong and then right. Others follow a particular comic or a regular on the open mic bill. You don't need a plan. Turn up, watch, and make your own call. If you care more about the performance than the setting, this is worth keeping on your list.
