A hotel that hosts afternoon teas, cocktail receptions and set dinners is a different kind of venue. The events are built around the table, not a stage. Most of what happens here is about sitting down together. Group dining, long lunches, a drink before the main meal. The festive programme runs through the end of the year, with dinners and afternoon teas that suit people who want to stay put and not rush. If you are choosing one, start with who you are going with. These nights suit people marking something: a team meal, a family get-together, a birthday that needs a proper room. You go for the occasion more than for a scene. The crowd tends to be groups and people celebrating.
